Holding a Package

Mark packages as held when they cannot be delivered or need special handling

Overview

Sometimes a package cannot be delivered right away — the recipient is out of the office, ID verification is required, or the package needs special handling. Mark it as HELD to flag it for follow-up.

When to hold a package

Hold a package when: the recipient is unavailable for an extended period, the package requires a signature and the recipient has not come by, the package is damaged and needs inspection, or there is a dispute about the recipient.

How to hold a package

Open the package detail page and change the status to Held. Add a note explaining why — this helps your team follow up. The recipient is notified that their package is being held and asked to contact the mailroom.

Releasing a held package

When the issue is resolved, deliver the package normally. The hold note stays in the package history for reference.

Tips

  • Always add a note when holding a package — your team needs to know why
  • Held packages appear in the Held status tab so they do not get lost
  • Recipients receive a notification when their package is held
