Receiving a Package

How to scan a barcode, assign a recipient, and log an incoming package

Overview

Receiving is the core workflow in PackageTrack Pro. The Receive page has two tabs: Single and Scan & Receive. Single mode is the standard 3-step flow (scan, assign, confirm). Scan & Receive lets you bulk-scan packages to a staging location without assigning recipients — ideal for high-volume receiving.

Single mode (standard)

Use Single mode when you know who each package is for. Scan the barcode (or enter tracking info manually), select a recipient, optionally snap a photo, and tap Receive. The carrier and tracking number are detected automatically from the barcode, but both are optional — you can receive a package without them for inter-office mail or items without barcodes.

Scan & Receive mode (bulk)

Use Scan & Receive when a large batch arrives and you want to log everything fast before sorting. Choose a staging location, then scan barcodes one after another — each package is logged in RECEIVED status with that location. No carrier, sender, or recipient is required. You can assign recipients and sort packages later from the Packages page.

Steps

  1. From the dashboard, tap "Receive" in the sidebar or the Receive button
  2. Choose your mode: Single (one at a time) or Scan & Receive (bulk)
  3. In Single mode: scan the barcode or enter tracking info manually
  4. Select or search for the recipient — recent recipients appear as quick-tap chips
  5. Add a photo of the package (optional but recommended)
  6. Tap Receive — done! The recipient is notified by email automatically

Tips

  • Can't scan the barcode? Tap "Enter Manually" to type the tracking number by hand
  • Recipient not in the list? Tap "Add New" to create them on the fly
  • Multiple packages for the same person? Receive each one separately — they are grouped on the recipient's view
  • Carrier and sender are optional — skip them for inter-office mail or items without shipping labels
  • Use Scan & Receive for high-volume batches, then sort and assign recipients later
